Before the Wachowski’s entered The Matrix (1999), they made their directorial debut with the queer neo-noir thriller; Bound (1996). Coquettish mob doll Violet (Jennifer Tilly) teams up with her tool-belt toting lover Corky (Gina Gershon) to rob her Mafia boyfriend.

Cerise is the artistic director of the Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia, a member of the International Jury Board of the East-West: Golden Arch awards, a co-curator of the Melbourne Cinémathèque and a co-founder of tilde: Melbourne's Trans & Gender Diverse Film Festival.

Whitney’s background is in screen, media and cultural studies and her research examines the representation of gender, queer and youth identities, digital culture, and new forms of screen media. She’s author of Queer Girls, Temporality and Screen Media: Not 'Just a Phase' (Palgrave, 2016), the founder and co-editor of Peephole Journal and a festival co-ordinator at the Melbourne Women in Film Festival.
